I have a 1987 Honda Spree and it will idle, but shuts down when throttle is
applied. I am guessing that I need a carb rebuild kit. I also need an air
filter (there isn't one in scooter). I am located in Gainesville, Florida.
Any help in finding these parts would be appreciated.
Also, what parts should I worry about replacing in carburetor. All gaskets?
float valve? throttle needle?
Any and all help is appreciated

Air filter you can get for a couple dollars from the Honda website or from Amazon. There are carb rebuild kits at many scooter/moped websites and some stores will order it for you if you go in and tell them what you need. Only replace gaskets if there is wear, if you use an ignition starter fluid do NOT get this on the gasket that connects directly to the engine (not the side connecting to the air filter) as this will cause damage by wearing or it can cause it to expand and you will have to replace it. Within the carb the most important thing is to have everything aligned correctly. Be very careful with the '87 when messing around with the throttle valve, they are very touchy on this year and you can easily damage it. The smallest parts of dirt and carbon build up can causes defects, so generally a good cleaning is all that is needed. Be sure that the air valve is turned to the correct setting if you remove this (it is a screw on the side of the carb) I believe it is 1 and 3/8 turns back after being tightened, but best way to know if the count your turns when removing it.applied.
